AREI via IDU:

• coordinates and undertakes assessments, studies, analyses and the sharing of experiences and perspectives from African countries based on truly multi-stakeholder participation in order to provide African governments with several options;
• facilitates and supports the development of particularly promising incentive mechanisms and comprehensive policy packages for the national governments of the African countries concerned;
• lays the foundation for quality learning, further development and continuous extension of work in the post-2020 phase;
• facilitates the implementation of outstanding renewable energy projects that meet IAER eligibility criteria and would not proceed without additional support;
• ensures that these actions contribute to the installation of 10 GW of new and additional energy production capacity, in accordance with the guiding principles, approaches, priorities and eligibility criteria of the IAER framework.
