Construction of a hybrid plant (13 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) and 6 MWe of diesel) coupled to the Sonichar coal-fired power plant and connected to the local grid operated and maintained by Nigelec.
Increase of Energy production capacity
Technical assistance has been recruited and the EPC tender documentation is being finalized. EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) companies for the construction of the plant have been preselected. Objective is to launch the EPC call for tender in the second half of 2019.
The financing agreement has been signed with the Nigerien Government. The first disbursement (advance) was made in February 2019.
Besides the construction of a hybrid plant, the network rehabilitation is included under the project. Consequently 34 000 people will gain access to on grid electricity. Due to the solar power plant capacity, 24 kton CO2 equivalent GHG emissions reduction is expected every year.
