The Electrification Financing Initiative (ElectriFI) is an enabling multi-donor facility supporting investments through reimbursable schemes to provide access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy in developing countries.
EFI has been designed as Global and National level, i.e. ElectriFI Country Window.
ElectriFI operates through the building of a pipeline of projects. The single projects are submitted also in the context of AREI.
All the projects/programmes are the result of dialogue with the partner countries and therefore will have the agreement with the relevant authorities.

Prior to establishing a Country Window a market assessment is done in order to assess the market potential for the ElectriFI approach (private, commercial, repayable), to align with other forms of support present in country, and orient the investment strategy. 11 market studies have been launched in Africa so far in Zambia, .
In December 2017, ElectriFI Country Window has been contracted for 4 African countries Zambia, Ghana, Benin, Ivory Coast.
Addressing the lack of access to clean, reliable and affordable energy services figures prominently in the international aid agenda for the fight against poverty. At the same time access to sustainable energy services is an important component of the Climate Change policy and the achievement of the Paris Agreement objectives. - It will be a major contribution to the countries sustainable development and climate plans.
